Every year, lakhs of trainees enrolled under the Craftsmen Training Scheme (CTS) wait on one thing above all else: the day their ITI result goes live. For 2026, the Directorate General of Training has issued a revised (3.0) schedule for the CTS Mains Examination, and it answers most of the questions trainees usually have to chase down individually — when practical exams happen, when the computer-based test (CBT) is held, and, most importantly, when the result itself is published.

This post breaks that schedule down into something readable, in the order a trainee actually experiences it: preparation and fee steps, practical examinations, the CBT, and finally the result and grievance window.

Who this covers The revised schedule applies to the 2024-26 session (2nd year of the two-year course), the 2025-27 session (1st year of the two-year course), and the 2025-26 session (one-year course and six-month course, batch II) — for both regular and private trainees.

How to check your ITI Result 2026

The result itself is published centrally by DGT, and ITIs typically also display consolidated results on notice boards. A practical way to check it once it’s live:

  1. Keep your roll number and hall ticket details (from the practical or CBT hall ticket) ready — these are what you’ll be asked for.
  2. Visit the official DGT / NCVT results portal once results are announced on 10 August 2026, and use the result or marksheet lookup section.
  3. Enter your roll number and any other requested identifiers (trade, ITI code, or date of birth, depending on the portal’s format).
  4. Download and save a copy of your result or provisional marksheet for your records.
  5. Cross-check your practical and CBT scores against your own hall tickets and attendance if anything looks inconsistent.

If something looks wrong: the grievance window

The schedule sets aside a dedicated window — 17 August to 31 August 2026 — specifically for trainees to register grievances related to their examination or result. If your marks don’t match what you expected, or a subject appears missing or mismatched, this is the window to flag it rather than waiting for the next cycle. Raise it early within that window, since verification and correction can take time on the administrative side.

Frequently asked questions

What is the CTS Mains Examination?
